Research + Exploration

We begin with a consultation to define your vision, target customer, and key requirements, followed by research into market trends, patents, and emerging technologies. We then explore and present different concepts and/or wireframes to meet your unique needs.

Prototyping + Proof of Concept

Through a combination of rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing and off-the-shelf sourced components, we iterate a large variety of low fidelity models. This allows us to quickly and cost effectively weed out what ideas won't work before moving to more expensive and time consuming development.

Renders, Models & Testing

Once we have vetted a few preliminary concepts we create higher fidelity prototypes to test the fit, function, size and aesthetics of the design. By the end of this stage you will have a working, near production looking model and polished renders that can be used for investor meeting, pitches and early sales gauging. This model can also be used for product testing, by our team, yours or both.

Design Optimization

Before we go to manufacturing there is often one last round of tweaks and adjustments. This may include material, colour ways and finishes, small aesthetic changes, brand integration and hardware and software optimizing.

Design for Manufacturing

The final step refines the design and prepares it for manufacturing (DFM). Depending on the manufacturing methods and materials selected, some minor adjustments may have to be made to get the most cost effective, high quality results. At this phase we also look at certifications needed for the hardware and begin applying to optain the certifications to reduce delays to launch.

Sourcing & Manufacturing

We source and receive multiple quotes and samples from trusted, pre-vetted manufacturers, making adjustments until the product meets your requirements. After samples are approved, we then move to mass production. Once we know the final size and assembly, we can also start designing the packaging and organizing logistics. We can also provide support creating marketing material, startup guides and any other supplementary documents needed for the product launch.

Ongoing Support

Core development is complete, but we continue to provide ongoing support, including sustaining engineering and design services throughout the product’s lifecycle. Additionally, during the development phase there are some features we may deem get pushed to a secondary upgraded release to curb complexity and costs. This V2 development may start once the initial product is on the market and creating cash flow.

How involved will I be in this proccess?

At Brash we believe in working collaboratively with our clients every step of the way.
